Anker Roav Viva Bluetooth Car kit

Anker, the US electronics accessory brand popular for its humongous power banks has launched a new smart car charger at the CES 2018. The latest product is a part of Anker’s sub-brand Roav’s lineup. It’s called the Roav Viva Bluetooth Car Kit, and it brings Amazon’s intelligent Alexa voice assistant right inside your car.

The Roav Viva Bluetooth Car Kit isn’t your ordinary car charger. While it indeed has charging capabilities thanks to its two USB ports, but it has a lot more tech down its sleeve. The Viva brings Amazon’s Alexa service right into any car supporting Bluetooth 4.0 A2DP. It comes at a time when some automakers are trying to shove their new car models into your throat, by touting the presence of the Amazon’s intelligent Alexa companion. This new plug and play Roav Viva Bluetooth car kit, however, completely solves the issue, thereby allowing you to use the smart assistant in your current car.

The Anker’s Roav Viva Bluetooth car charger comes with dual noise-cancelling microphones. This helps the driver communicate with the device by just blurting out the phrase “Alexa”. The smart car kit is capable of performing a plethora of tasks like checking weather conditions, playing iHeart Radio or Pandora and even ordering coffee. The Viva also responds to voice commands to look up directions on Google Maps, Apple Maps or Waze.

Hardware wise, the Roav Viva comes with Anker’s super-fast PowerIQ charging technology. It supports both Android and iPhones. The dual USB port found in the car charger supports up to 2.4A of output. Additionally, the Roav Viva comes with a microphone mute button to prevent Alexa from listening to your in-car family discussions or even arguments. Apart from using Alexa, you may use the Bluetooth connection and the noise cancelling microphones for making hands-free calls on the go.

Previously we have seen a similar implementation from Garmin. Its Garmin Speak comes with Alexa on-board but set you back at $150. The Anker Road Viva, on the other hand, is priced at just $50. It is now available for pre-order on Amazon in the US. Anker is expected to bring it to its international markets soon.
